Holiday Home Tour
Welcome
I am so happy to have you stop by our holiday home! What a pleasure to share our space with you! This year was one of my favorites for decking the halls yet! November kept us so busy with work and projects around our house that my husband and I were struggling to summon enough holiday spirit to even decorate. I decided to just enjoy the PROCESS of creating. I threw out all the pressure to have things look perfect or a certain way and I just had fun. I let my enjoyment be my guide. I really believe that when we can do that, and stay in our joy, that what we create turns out just right. I love getting inspiration from Pinterest and my design friends on Instagram, but I've learned to love using what I have too. There is a little thrill in being able to create new looks with what we have by just moving things around a little. I find myself setting things out differently every year just to mix it up into new expressions. This is the first year we decorated our front patio and it's by far my favorite scene around our home. You can't see in this picture during the day, but the birch logs have tiny wire lights that come on at dusk. Its all kinds of magical for me every time I drive up to our home. If we are able to savor the enjoyment of little pleasures, it seems like we experience them more frequently. Even if it is as small as little wire lights on a timer.
We spent a Saturday grabbing the "bits and bobs" (my favorite English phrase I just learned and will forever use!) for our front planters at a local nursery. We also picked up some garlands and greens for around the house. It might be borderline weird how much fun I had finding spots to put boughs. But I'll own it. I'm digging the green and I will miss it when its gone.
